Therapeutic Solutions for Lasting Mobility
Deep Tissue Structural Integration
Muscle Works Massage Therapy focuses on getting to the root of physical pain, releasing years of built-up tension and trauma through clinical bodywork. We provide a restorative, results-oriented experience in Washington, Utah, designed for those who require more than superficial relaxation.
Targeting Muscle Pain, Chronic Stiffness, and Structural Alignment
The Power of Deep Tissue Bodywork
Unlike traditional massage techniques designed purely for relaxation, deep tissue massage is a targeted therapeutic treatment used to alleviate persistent muscle pain and stubborn stiffness. While it provides profound mental relaxation, its primary purpose is structural recovery.
In fact, a clinical study highlighted that deep tissue massage effectively reduced pain levels for individuals suffering from chronic lower back pain, mirroring the relief typically sought from over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications.

What Can Deep Tissue Massage Help Address?
Targeted Relief for Chronic Conditions
Over years of clinical practice, deep tissue bodywork has proven highly effective at restoring functional movement and dramatically reducing chronic discomfort.
Jennifer specializes in treating conditions including, but not limited to:
- Joint & Structural Injuries: Frozen shoulder, torn rotator cuff, tennis elbow, and spine, hip, knee, or ankle injuries.
- Chronic Pain & Tension: Sciatica, fibromyalgia, TMJ, severe headaches/migraines, and plantar fasciitis.
- Nerve & Systemic Issues: Carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, and high blood pressure stress management.

Understanding the Key Differences in Treatment
Deep Tissue vs. Swedish Massage
- Intended Use - Deep tissue massage is clinically focused, primarily used to rehabilitate chronic pain, restore fascia alignment, and treat sports-related injuries. Swedish massage is a lighter modality designed mostly to promote general relaxation and ease everyday surface tension from sitting at a desk.
- Applied Pressure - Swedish massage utilizes a gentle, superficial form of touch. Deep tissue massage requires substantial, intense pressure to access deeper physiological layers. To achieve this, Jennifer strategically utilizes her elbows and forearms in addition to her palms and fingers to manipulate tightly bound tissues.
- Area of Focus - While Swedish massage focuses strictly on superficial muscle groups holding daily tension (like the upper neck and shoulders), deep tissue bodywork intensely targets the inner layers of your muscles and the surrounding myofascial system to release deep-seated restrictions.

What to Expect During and After Your Treatment
Preparing For Your Session
The Experience & Recovery - Before hands-on work begins, you will discuss your specific problem areas. Once on the table, Jennifer will warm up the superficial muscle layers using a lighter touch before transitioning to deep kneading, intense friction, and targeted pressure.
Note: It is perfectly normal to experience lingering muscle soreness for a few days following treatment. Applying a heating pad or a towel-wrapped cold pack to the area will significantly ease this natural recovery process.
Clinical Contraindications - While deep tissue bodywork is highly therapeutic, the substantial pressure used means it is not safe for everyone. Please consult your primary physician before scheduling a session if you:
- Have a history of blood clots, deep vein thrombosis, or clotting disorders.
- Are currently taking prescription blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder.
- Have an active cancer diagnosis or are currently undergoing chemotherapy/radiation treatments.
